From May 30th, the Leisure & Bike Sprinter will bring passengers twice a day from Villach directly to Mallnitz in the Hohe Tauern National Park. It’s the ideal family-friendly, reasonably priced day trip for hikers and bikers.
Hohe Tauern
It takes approximately one hour to get from Villach to Mallnitz (with only one stop in Spittal), and the train has a carriage with room for over 200 bicycles. There are plenty of train connections from various Carinthian valleys and towns (Hermagor, Klagenfurt, Rosenbach, Feldkirchen, etc.). It is possible to cycle back from Mallnitz to Villach along the excellent network of cycle paths through the Möll and Drau valleys, or to return by train after a hike in the national park.
