The second largest car-free event in Carinthia, after the car-free day at Lake Wörthersee, is “Car-free Lake Ossiacher See”. Route length: 27 kilometres or 42 kilometres around Lake Ossiacher See and Feldkirchen. A good tip for tired or leisurely participants is the Lake Ossiacher See passenger ferry. Don’t forget to wear your helmet!
The Petzen mountain will be the international focal point of the mountain bike community with the MTB Enduro World Series race. The event will take place on the Carinthian as well as the Slovenian side of the mountain. Start and finish will be directly at the valley station of the Petzen cable cars. Find out more
What makes the Ironman Austria so extraordinary is the special connection between the spectators and the athletes – an interplay of excitement and a symbiosis of emotions. Around 3,000 athletes from 60 nations rise to the challenge. The start is at 6:40am in Klagenfurt in the approx. 22 degree warm Lake Wörthersee, where the athletes surge through the waves of the lake for 3.8 kilometres. Then the 180.2 km long cycle route leads through the picturesque mountain and lake landscape of Carinthia (1,680 m difference in altitude) before the marathon begins along the lakeside and through the town centre of Klagenfurt. THE stage race for everyone. This event takes place in one of the most beautiful regions of Austria, in the region of the third biggest lake of Carinthia, the “Ossiacher See” and near the region of the well known Nockberge. We will welcome you in Ossiach from Saturday 19th until Thursday 24th of May 2018 for the seventh Tour de Kärnten. There will be a stage race for six days: approximately 400 km and about 8.000 elevation gain. This race is prepared like a “Tour de France“ or a “Giro d´Italia”. Find out more
“E-Motions – Many ways to enjoy Lake Millstätter See”
In partnership with the Delius Klasing publishing house, the Millstätter See region has plans to soon become an eBike Eldorado. The “E-Motions” eBike event offers more than just cycling. Bike guides will accompany guests on enjoyable tours. On natural trails by eMTB in the Nockberge mountains or by eBike on level and slightly hilly routes alongside the lake. The best locations at and above the lake in the form of alpine farms or lakeside restaurants invite you to stop and rest. And at the Expo grounds, leading eBike manufacturers will be presenting their latest models – test rides included!

From the glacier to the sea. 300 km is a mystical distance for every road cyclist. There are only a few who have ever done it. The Alps-Adriatic region offers a unique route to reach this milestone. From the Hochtor at 2,500 metres the route leads across Carinthia, through the Soča Valley in Slovenia and Friuli mostly downhill all the way to Grado at the Adriatic Sea. The most important route markings are Heiligenblut – Winklern – Spittal an der Drau – Villach – Tarvisio – Passo Predil – Bovec – Kobarid – Cividale – Aquileia – Grado. Find out more
After 3 years’ break, the Carinthia Cycle Marathon is celebrating its comeback! On 7th June there will be 2 distances leading through the Nockberge mountains, and a completely new concept will be presented: competitors will only be timed on the ascents.
